AleSmith is releasing the ale in six packs as part of San Diego Beer Week and starting this weekend it will be available for purchase. Gwynn worked with the brewery to help create it before his death from cancer in June. The beer is named after Gwynn’s 1994 strike-shortened season when he hit .394.

If Gwynn-approved ale is what you’re after, you may want to act fast because only a limited number will be released and they will only be available at the AleSmith tap room. There’s a chance the beer will eventually get wider distribution, but for now those in San Diego will be the lucky recipients.
When AleSmith announced the beer back in May, they touched on how Gwynn was a big help in creating the recipe:
San Diego Pale Ale 394 will be released to the public Sunday, with Tony Gwynn Jr. on hand to celebrate.
