Indiana head coach Tom Crean and Nebraska head coach Tim Miles, no strangers to sideline spats, got in a verbal altercation midway through the second half of the conference opener.

The exchange came after Nebraska’s Tai Webster fouled Hoosier forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea hard, to which Crean pointed at Miles and said a few words. Both coaches then met at midcourt — Miles yelling, Crean standing in silence — and Miles had to be restrained.

Crean appeared to tell Miles to “shut up,” but vehemently denied that in the postgame press conference.

“I’ve been a head coach 20 years. I’m just gonna coach my team. That’s what I do,” Miles said, when asked about the incident, according to the Indianapolis Star. “We just kind of talked about the weather, tulips, flowers. …

“I have no comment about that. It’s really inconsequential to the game.”

Indiana got the last word, beating Nebraska 70-65.
