It’s an update that should have Tampa Bay fans jumping for joy — except for one unlucky bidder, who is now likely cursing their terrible luck. According to a Sunday report from ESPN, the ball that represents Brady’s last touchdown pass (for now) recently sold for $518,000, per auction site Lelands.

Several hours after the story was posted, Brady announced his un-retirement.
That would, of course, nullify whatever historic value that touchdown ball holds. To put it another way, someone just paid more than $500,000 for Brady’s most recent touchdown pass — not nearly as valuable as his last touchdown pass. It’s now worth one-tenth of its value, $50,000.
Word got to Brady and he wants to make it right.

For those who are interested, that ball was from a 55-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mike Evans, which took place at the 3:20 mark in the fourth quarter of the NFC divisional round game against the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams. The touchdown cut the Rams’ lead to 27-20 but Los Angeles would prevail 30-27.
The ball from Brady’s first NFL touchdown pass recently sold for $428,841, per ESPN. It also reports that up to 23 people put bids on Brady’s last TD ball, with the bidding starting at $100,000.
One person who is happy with Brady’s return to the NFL: Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who was the unfortunate defender who gave up said touchdown.
At least someone got a lucky break.
