Tokyo Revengers is a story that focuses heavily on gangs and Mafias which are very violent spaces and have always been male-dominated. As such, it would make sense for the story to not have that many compelling female characters. However, the few that are present in the story certainly fulfill their roles and story narrative wonderfully well, and in doing so, add a lot of depth to the story.
4 Tachibana Hinata
Tachibana Hinata is the show’s main female character and she acts as the love interest of the main character, Hanagaki Takemichi. For the 26-year-old Takemichi, she is his past ex-girlfriend who he watched die at the hands of the Yakuza, as reported on live television. However, for the Takemichi of the past, she is his girlfriend and the closest person that he has. Hinata is also the story’s main motivation as everything Takemichi does is for the sole purpose of saving her from her cursed fate.
Hinata is an extremely sweet and caring girl. She is shown to be a big optimist and huge moral support to everyone around her. Often, she brings joy to people around her. At first glance, this could be seen as just a typical, boring, nice girl trope, but Hinata, as the story goes on, proves to be a lot more than just that. Her bravery is especially shown in instances where she stands up for Takemichi. An example of this would be when she believes the latter is getting bullied, and without any hesitation, she goes as far as to slap the leader of the gang, Mikey, not caring about the consequences. Appearance-wise, she’s quite a normal girl with pink-purplish hair and pretty big eyes. Hinata has a beauty mark under her lips. In the series, she’s usually dressed in her school uniform, but on some occasions, she can also be seen in casual or traditional Japanese clothing.
3 Sano Emma
Emma is Mikey or Sano Manjiro’s younger half-sister, as well as Draken’s love interest. Being an extremely important female character, fans get to see her in the first season of Tokyo Revengers. Emma is a young middle schooler, who usually dresses as such, wearing her light blue shirt and skirt. She has long honey hair and big golden eyes. Her first appearance is rather steamy as she is seen on top of Takemichi in her underwear when, on one occasion, he travels from the present to the past.
This happens in chapter 9 of the manga and the fifth episode of the anime. For her, this was nothing more than an attempt to make Draken jealous. As the story progresses, she bonds with the story’s other main female lead, Hinata. Unlike the other female characters on this list, Emma’s story is tragic and she, arguably, has the saddest death in the manga, which is what makes her a very impactful character. Her brother’s gang activity ends up being her demise. In an uneventful manner, she is killed by Kisaki in cold blood with a bat. As Hinata herself noted, Emma has a very big and pure heart. She cares deeply for her family and loved ones, which is quite possibly the most striking characteristic of hers. Unfortunately, She dies very young in the story, leaving everyone heartbroken as she brought joy to everyone’s lives. Emma was also her brother’s last string, holding his sanity together.

2 Yuzuha Shiba
Yuzuha Shiba is one of the female characters that fans will see get much-deserved attention in the second season of Tokyo Revengers, which drops in January 2023. She is going to be a key character in the Black Dragons arc of the story. She is a tall woman with brown hair and eyes, and often wears a black uniform. Occasionally, she can be seen with headphones around her neck. Shiba makes her debut during the Black Dragon arc in chapter 77 of the manga, and is properly introduced along with her younger brother, Shiba Hakkai, the Second Division Vice Captain. The Black Dragons arc is heavily focused on the Shiba family and the relationships between the three siblings, Shiba Taiju, the older brother, Shiba Yuzuha, and Shiba Hakkai, the younger brother.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, her family was riddled with abuse. Yuzuha and Hakkai, especially, had to suffer a lot at the hands of their older brother. Despite everything, Yuzuha tries her best to defend her younger brother. Mentally, she is a very strong woman who has handled abuse from her older brother for years. In fact, her resolve is strong enough to even be ready to murder him to end his abusive grasp over herself and her younger brother. Often, Yuzuha tends to keep a straight face, with some occasional softer moments. Overall, she is shown to be a responsible older sister.

1 Kawaragi Senju
Kawaragi Senju is undoubtedly one of the most memorable characters in the manga currently. As expected, she isn’t likely to make her anime debut anytime soon. When it comes to appearance, she is very short in stature, with light pink hair and big green eyes. She is often mistaken for a boy, so it could be that her voice is masculine as well. Kawaragi is introduced quite late in the manga in chapter 212 and is also the only female character in Tokyo Revengers to be featured on a manga cover, specifically for volume 27. She is the former leader of Braham, a member of the three deities that controlled Tokyo. During her first appearance, Senju’s gender was ambiguous and most fans assumed she was a short boy. Shortly afterwards, it is revealed, to the shock of some characters, that she’s actually a woman.
As the story continues, she joins the second generation Tokyo Manji Gang alongside Takemichi, where she is awarded the rank of 5th Captain. Most interestingly, Kawaragi is the story’s strongest female character, and one of the strongest people overall. As such, she has a strong personality and is a tremendous leader. At the same time, she also has a soft and carefree side. After all, she is just a 16-year-old.
