If you’re among those playing the game today and you find yourself hitting a wall with your guesses, this article will offer you hints to guide you towards the solution—which is also offered at the bottom of this piece (so scroll slowly to avoid spoilers).
As you might already know, Wordle offers only six tries to guess the correct five-letter word. You can start with the first word that comes to mind or choose to strike out as many vowels as you can with a word like “ADIEU” (“goodbye” in French).
A green tile will let you know that the letter you chose is the right one in the right position, a yellow tile indicates a right letter in the wrong position, while a gray tile lets you know that letter isn’t in the word you’re looking for.
Remember that it’s possible for letters to be repeated—but avoid repeating the use of letters that you already know are not there.
Below, Newsweek has a few hints and tips to help those struggling to answer today’s Wordle puzzle.

‘Wordle’ #451 Answer for Tuesday, September 13
The answer to the Tuesday, September 13 Wordle puzzle is “ALPHA.”
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word as “the first letter in the Greek alphabet.” The letter has also come to represent the numeral value of 1 in mathematics, and generally indicates something that comes first.
“Something or someone designated with the name alpha or the Greek letter α especially denoting the first in position, order, or class,” says Merriam-Webster, which also includes in the definition “the first version of a product (such as a computer program) that is being developed and tested—usually used before another noun” and “a socially dominant person or animal.”
The letter was used to denominate a SARS-CoV-2 variant first identified in the United Kingdom in November 2020 and the demographic group following Generation Z. Generation Alpha refers to individuals born between the mid-2010s and mid-2020s.
A fun fact for you today on “alpha” and animals: wolves do not actually have “alpha males” and “alpha females.”
In the wild, a wolf pack consists of two parents and their puppies. The whole concept of “alpha” wolves—animals that compete to become the top dog by asserting their dominance and strength over others—was born from the observation of wolves in captivity, forced into unnaturally small areas.
