How To Play Wordle

Wordle is a simple-to-play, browser-based game that is quick to learn. Thankfully, it doesn’t have very many rules, and players can play a whole round in just a few minutes, even if they are new. So here is a breakdown of how to play:

First, head to the New York Times Crossword app or Games website. While there are loads of copycats out there, this is the original Wordle. Choose a starting word. It must be five letters long, a real English word, and should contain five different, common letters. Wordle answers cannot be proper nouns, plural nouns ending in S, or offensive words. They are usually American spellings of words as well. Once a good starting word is picked with all these rules in mind, type it into the site and press enter. The letters of the chosen word will then change colors. Green letters are right, gray are wrong, and yellow letters are correct but in the wrong place in the word. Given these clues, players need to keep guessing new words and using the colors of the letters as clues. Wordle gives players a total of six tries. Puzzles reset daily at midnight local time every day. There is only one word per day for everyone.
