If you’re new to the online game, you can try it for free here. The daily brainteaser was released shortly after Wordle had taken the world by storm. Although similar in premise to Josh Wardle’s creation, Quordle is much more challenging.
Both games use a color-coded square system to show whether you’ve correctly guessed the letters. Wordle, now owned by The New York Times, gives players six attempts to find a single five-letter word, while Quordle players must figure out four five-letter words in nine tries.
Quordle has four grids on the screen simultaneously and each word players write down is shown in all four grids.
Quordle General Tips and Advice
Here are some tips and tricks for Quordle players, whether they’re new to the game or simply struggling with the latest challenge.
Your first few attempts should be words with plenty of vowels: AUDIO is a great example.
Jack Terry, a Quordle player and account manager at PR agency Red Setter, says the game “perfectly scratches that itch of testing my knowledge and logic, as well as my vocabulary.”
He told Newsweek: “Strategy became an important part of being the daily winner amongst my group, and I soon identified ARISE as my preferred starter word, with MOUNT as my back-up. This way I cross off every vowel, as well as some of the most common consonants. This strategy has been refined so that for Wordle, I only use one and then make educated guesses based on what goes orange or green.”
