The daily brainteaser took the internet by storm when it launched late last year. According to its own developer, Josh Wardle, the main appeal of the puzzle game is that it does not try to get you addicted with long play sessions or incentivise you to spend any money. Yet Wordle has recently been acquired by The New York Times Company for an undisclosed sum in “the seven-figures” range. Nothing is changing for the time being, but it is worth noting that the publisher has claimed that the game will “initially” remain free to current and existing users....
